Catching The Sunset From The Brooklyn Bridge

Yo, yo, yo! I just got back from NYC, and while I was there I shot this quick video from on top of the Brooklyn Bridge. Haha, cool huh? Check it out below…

And yes – catching the sunset on top of the Brooklyn Bridge is ‘bucket list worthy’.

Nothing in the world like building a business AND having a life – and I’d like to teach you how to do it. To learn exactly how (and to get more videos of me in cool places, doing cool things …while I build my business) just subscribe to my newsletter here.

I Teach What I Do Because IT WORKS (really well)

I’ll typically spend around 50% of my ‘downtime” in a normal day in some sort of “personal development”. Yea, it sounds like a lot, and it is. And the amount of time i spend reading, listening to audio, coaching and “perfecting my craft” is pretty abnormal.

But I do it (now) BECAUSE I LOVE IT. And because it gets me TREMENDOUS results in my life and business.

Really, it saved my life when I began to take a long and honest look at myself back in 2008 when I was getting clean. But not because it taught me how to stay clean. A decision did that. Thorough personal development taught me how to release myself from the self made prison I had been living for the previous 10 years because of the way I viewed myself and the world, and the belief system I had formed from the people I hung out with and the garbage I put into my head.

The same thing happened when I started my business. I DECIDED I was going to be successful NO MATTER WHAT. And then I immersed myself into personal development which has helped me master the craft of communication, marketing and influence.

And by personal development I specifically mean . . .

Listening to audios everyday
Reading books
Coaching with people who know more than I do in a specific area
Attending events
Getting on calls

Damn, that’s starting to sound a lot like the ’8 Core Steps” :-)

I just shot a video about it tonight (just after I finished the ‘Empower Hour’ call). Check it out below . . .

Speed Up To Slow Down

Before I write anything here, I have to tell you – I’m super pumped about using the brand new Empower Network Video Hosting Service for this blog post. It’s unbelievably easy to use and I just uploaded a video probably easier and faster than I’ve ever uploaded any other video with any other service before (including the video behemoth YT). To get access to buy it, buy our blogging system here and log into your back office and get it, now. It’s really badass.

Still pumped about that, but moving on :)

The other day I was out riding jet skis with my family, and as usual, I was going (really) fast and doing everything I could to catch as much air off each wave as I possibly could. This type of riding using results in really sore ass cheeks, hyena like laughter and an occasional ‘bloody murder’ scream or two. What I also noticed was that I like to ride a jet ski the same exact way I like to build my business (which tends to be the exact opposite of how most ‘gurus’ . . . ‘business brainiacs’ . . and . . ‘marketing experts’ teach in colleges and courses).

A “Tree” of Story Tellers

For the last year, every Wednesday I take my 13 y/o daughter out for “daddy/daughter night” — just her and I.

Tonight, she sat and told me stories for a couple of hours, and then shared how she was in the process of turning those stories into books, and eventually getting them onto the big screen. And when they were ready to be turned into movies, she wanted to MAKE SURE she casted the crew to ensure the wrong actors were not chosen to act out the roles she created.

Listening to her, made me think of a time when I told a story, pacing back and forth in the living room of an old house I lived in 2 1/2 years ago, on a conference call with about 100 people . . .

. . . as a little girl sat in the room next to me, listening in, as I talked about how one day I would be standing in front of 5,000 people sharing my life and teaching those people how to turn all the skeletons on their closet into their greatest and most ‘profitable’ assets.

And as I remembered that story, I looked back at my daughter as she finished her story, and I thought to myself . . .”Well hot damn, maybe the apple don’t fall far from the ‘ol tree after all”

I Bought Her The Car She Wanted (Cash)

Last week I realized I hadn’t talked to my Mom in a few weeks, so I gave her a call. We chatted, caught up, and just before we hung up – she hesitantly told me something disturbing.

She told me that around 2am that Saturday night a guy drove up into their lawn (at the house I grew up in) and crashed into both of my parents cars. One was totaled and the other one damaged badly. He was drunk, and had bare-bones insurance. I could tell she was anxious and was still processing how they would handle the new financial burden that they didn’t ask for and did not see coming.

Now, most Mom’s put up with a certain level of turmoil raising kids – especially boys – especially ones that caused as much chaos growing up as I did. And they always seem to have a vision, and be patient with our testosterone driven, narrow minded, instant gratification ignorance …. as our brains catch up with our bodies (and our genitals, too – can I keep it real, here, please?).

My Mom had that same intuitive vision. She never gave up on me through all the ridiculously hard times (that any logical human being would have thrown their hands up and walked away … preserving their last strands of sanity). She was the first person in my life who believed in me at my lowest points, even when I didn’t believe in myself. And as overbearing as she seemed to be at times – she loved me through the bad discussions I made, the dumb shit I always seemed to get my self into, and the late nights I ran the streets while she tossed and turned at home in bed.

Me and my family at the dealership

So I hopped off a plane today, and just decided to take her to the dealership and remove that financial burden from her mind, and buy her the car she really wanted and deserves.

Because the truth is: Most people wait to show people how much they love and appreciate them until their funeral.

For me, I’m just trying to speak up now while I have the chance and say “thank you” anyway I can.

Thank you, Mom!

Are You A “Shit Talker” or an “Ass Kicker”?

Yesterday, I posted a ‘controversial’ post on FB calling out all the “shit talkers” on Facebook — posing the all important question…..

Are You Just A “Shit Talker” or Are You An “Ass Kicker”?

…..And just as most of my posts usually do — it stirred up the pot a little :-)

Here’s the actual post….

talking shit post

Spelling errors and all — case in point — I’m less worried about details and more concerned with “getting shit done” — aka: kicking some ass.

Anyway, I followed up with a video shot in the car on my way to meet my biz partner Dave Wood for lunch on the beach here in Florida. Click play and check it out below…..

So, I’ll ask YOU…..

Are you just a ‘shit talker’ or are you an ‘ass kicker’? :)

My Confession From Court Today

Today was a defining moment in my life, and was one of those days I will remember for years to come. I share what happened, raw and uncut, plus why I felt compelled to share this “personal” moment with you in video below. Click play and check it out below…..

This was a long time coming, and as you can see from some of the Crazy Stories found on my blog, it’s always been a passion of mine to be a great dad to my daughter. Even when I didn’t know how. Even when I was going through my darkest times. She has always been my motivation — my heart.

And throughout everything, she has stuck by me. Loved me unconditionally like most children usually do. And it’s been an amazing journey so far. Just learning how to be a dad, and remembering when I’m about to do something too crazy, or even just plain stupid – there’s a little girl waiting for me at home.

That little girls name is Bailee.

And today a judge loooked at me — and then looked at her — and then looked back at me and smiled, and said….

“Son, I’m proud of you. Now go take your daughter home where she belongs.”

I smiled at him and nodded. Then I looked back at her, and I walked over and took her hand and waked out of the courtroom a proud father.

Today, all the people who dismissed me as “a lost hope” dissapeared in the eyes and smile of little girl named Bailee.

And it made all the struggle, and all the pain, and all the tears over the years — 100% worth it.

Surviving The “Big Ass Human Slingshot”

This is the first post on my new blog, and I could think of no way better to introduce such a badass blog, than with a badass (and absolutely hilarious) video like this:

Lol :-)

This was one day before my 29th birthday this year (a few days ago). Our plans were to skydive, but it ended up being too cloudy. So in a last minute attempt to find something that would make our hearts jump out of our chestswe found the “Big Ass Human Slingshot”.

What was even better, was when we came down from the first “launch” (video above)…. and the guy went for the upsell and made us an offer: “If you guys want to go up once more, I’ll let you do it this time only for just $10″. Since the first time up was $75, it was a damn good offer — even to someone like me, who potentially needed to change my pants after the complete terror I just experienced. Lol.

I laughed, took a deep breathe, and deleted the last bit of ‘inner wussy’ I had inside — and said: “Screw it. Let’s do it.”

Going up, it felt funny, but I had no idea it would be this ridiculous. So for you, I posted it here — not only to show how ridiculous of a time I had doing this (and how funny it looked on camera)….

…..but also to show a real life example of me reaching inside and ‘deleting my inner wussy’ :)
