A “Tree” of Story Tellers

For the last year, every Wednesday I take my 13 y/o daughter out for “daddy/daughter night” — just her and I.

Tonight, she sat and told me stories for a couple of hours, and then shared how she was in the process of turning those stories into books, and eventually getting them onto the big screen. And when they were ready to be turned into movies, she wanted to MAKE SURE she casted the crew to ensure the wrong actors were not chosen to act out the roles she created.

Listening to her, made me think of a time when I told a story, pacing back and forth in the living room of an old house I lived in 2 1/2 years ago, on a conference call with about 100 people . . .

. . . as a little girl sat in the room next to me, listening in, as I talked about how one day I would be standing in front of 5,000 people sharing my life and teaching those people how to turn all the skeletons on their closet into their greatest and most ‘profitable’ assets.

And as I remembered that story, I looked back at my daughter as she finished her story, and I thought to myself . . .”Well hot damn, maybe the apple don’t fall far from the ‘ol tree after all”

:)

Our most precious gifts come from the stories we've told our children, and which they pass on.  Those stories are not just the ones that are spoken but also the examples of how we've lived our lives, the rituals we have shared and the ideals we've held high.  To see the seeds we've planted and nourished take root, grow strong and flourish to bless the next generation is the most precious gift there is.

Nothing captivates the hearts and minds of people  more then a really good story .This is why  I can really relate to your story Dave from where you have come from . Looking from the other side of addiction , with a step father who went through the same struggles you went through , and one day woke up and realized . " I'm a grown ass man dog" as  Sedrick  the entertain would say ... lol

As I think about the story I want to leave behind for my girls, and the kind of man I would want them to end up with , I look myself in the mirror and say am I being a good example of a man that I would want them to have in their lives. Which makes me push harder to be a fine example , so they can have in their minds what a good man is , and will have a good reference to refer back to when choosing a partner for life.

I think anytime when can spend being open and caring with our girls the better they will be prepared to deal with the BS ..

My hat is off to you

Hey, Dude Live forever an your daughter.  We are like the water running from the mountain top. We cut our way as we try to head to the open sea. The Rocks separate us as we go, but we still keep heading for the open sea. The one's who make it is the one's who look up

Hey Dave appreciate everything you do...

I just wanted to tell you this because I got the chance to tell Wood but not you.

I actually submitted this story as my event story but dangit I had to talk fast in that video haha... So in Chicago (2nd event I've been too and I've gone to every one since I've been in OH and I just got ALL IN!!! Finally) anyways...

When Dave was helping all of us on the final day go through the breakthrough process of finding our real "why" I could never really see myself clearly in any of the visions in my head and it was very frustrating. But as I was going down the list of things I thought were my reason on the final time it finally BOOMED inside of my head. I didn't even have to think hard in fact it was when I let go of trying to think it finally came to me.

BOOM... I was standing on a podium in what looked like a city (kinda like a politician giving a speech) and there where hundreds of thousands and what even looked like millions of people surrounding me as I was inflicting passion and inspiration into all of them. It started with a close up on my face and I could finally SEE MYSELF CLEARLY! Then it expanded, and expanded, and expanded until I gasped under amazement. I'm here to inspire millions.

You see I've always wanted to be someone that made good money but not only that I've always wanted to help people. So it started with being a doctor then I realized I hated school but luckily I found Empower 6 months ago dropped out and am loving it. I'm at a tipping point right now of breaking through and embarking on my path to achieving what I really desire.

Getting back to the story... When Dave was finished doing that he had everyone stand up and scream out to show how I really felt inside. Now for some reason I could never scream maybe it was because I felt embarrassed or some stupid wussy reason. But as he counted down I stood up and SCREAMED at the top of my lungs, turned to the person next to me and said I believe in you go achieve your dreams. Then Dave called the people onto stage that were deciding to go All In so I hesitated but then I just ran up there.

After you two were done talking and everyone was trying to get pictures with the two of you I walked up to Wood gave him a handshake, hugged him, looked into his eyes and said, "Hey Dave my name is Gavin Griffey I'm planning on being one of your youngest leaders in Empower Network (I'm 20 started this when I was 19) and I'm planning on inspiring millions."

He looked at me while still holding my hand in the midst of chaos and said, "How does it feel?"

While a sigh of relief came over me I then said, "It feels great."

He stopped for a minute looked into my eyes and told me, "You can do this. You have everything already inside of you to be able to do this. Just go out and do it."

I simply said,"I will."

What I thought was amazing the entire time everyone was around us he just sat there held my hand (in a handshake position of course no funny business haha) and connected with me. I don't know what it was that he saw in me but I will ask him when I fight my way into the Inner Circle. I just wanted to share this story with you because I didn't have the chance to tell you the same.

Thank you for everything Dave and I look forward to hanging out with you at a leaders retreat or something of that badass matter as the entire Empower Network changes the world.

LOVE this story David!!!!  You are an inspiring man...  Your daughter chose you for a reason.  I remember dancing next to you and your beautiful woman, Erin at the after party, watching you from the audience in Chicago, hearing your sincerity, passion and clarity for your vision on the Monday night calls, and soon enough I will be standing face to face with you.  And when I do...  I will look you in the eyes and tell you just how much you've not only changed the lives of myself, my partner and my 5 soon to be 6 children, but how you've changed the lives of all of my team members!!!  See you on stage in Denver, with all the other Super Women of TTMA!!!
